How does CrossRay™ technology differ from standard BBQ’s?

CrossRay™ uses radiant infra-red heat which heats the food directly to cook it rather than the air around it. This produces temperatures up to 50 °C hotter than standard BBQ’s. The angle of the infra-red plaques also means there is consistent heat across the entire grill so you don’t get those hot and cold spots. So the benefit of CrossRay™ technology is hotter, more consistent and efficient cooking.

When it comes to BBQ’s there’s a lot of information about the different types of stainless steel, what is the stainless steel of Rinnai BBQ’s?

Chrome and Nickel are the main metals added to steel to give the stainless steel effect and both are expensive. Our range comprises of a mix of stainless steel grades making a range of options depending on budget.

Rinnai has two complete 304 stainless steel BBQ’s that are ideal for seaside conditions. They are the Maxim S7SB and the Maxim S5. Rinnai also offer a range of BBQ’s with a combination of 304 and 430 stainless steel to provide style as well as affordability. As a general rule, if the BBQ is under $2000 then it will be comprised of all or some 430 stainless steel.

All stainless steel will corrode over time (especially in salt spray environments) which is why it is important to keep them covered when not in use. Regular cleaning outlined in all our operation manuals is also advised to extend the life of the BBQ.

We’re looking at installing an Outdoor Super Ray just under a soffit, what are the clearances required?

300 mm from a ceiling
500 mm from a wall or other materials
1800 mm from floor

I want to run my LPG BBQ on natural gas, can I do this?

Yes and no. We have some BBQ’s that are able to be converted by Rinnai as long as we know prior to shipment. We do not however have conversion kits that are able to be sent out. If you are interested in a NG BBQ, please contact us so we can advise if this is available for the model you are interested in.
