Why Gas?
- Gas is convenient. It is clean, instant, and highly efficient.
- Gas is a powerful and responsive energy source. With gas appliances you are in control.
- For example the standard power output of a portable electrical heating appliance in your home is limited to 2.2 kilowatts. Gas can deliver an output far in excess of this.
This means the full power of gas can be put to work immediately, delivering instant heating to your home.
- Gas is economical. Gas can be as much as 9ยข* per kilowatt cheaper than electricity. For the average family this could easily equate to over $500 a year.
What's the difference between LPG and Natural Gas?
- Natural Gas is a natural resource found in subterranean pockets throughout the world. In New Zealand we have gas fields primarily in the Taranaki region. Gas is then piped from the fields to homes and business in major towns and cities in the North Island.
- LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) is separated from Natural Gas at the source as it is mined. It's then transported around the country (and the world) to be sold for home and commercial use in pressurised gas tanks or bottles.
