Like all the best ideas, it’s simple.
When you turn on a hot tap, cold water flows into your unit, which then ignites electronically and heats the water as it passes through the unit to your desired temperature.
So as long as you have a supply of cold water and gas – you’ll get as much hot water as you want.
Both Rinnai’s Infinity and the Rinnai Efficiency work in the same basic way, though Efficiency has some extra features (such as a secondary heat exchanger to pre-heat cold water) to increase its energy efficiency.
Watch the video below to find out more about Rinnai Efficiency.

There is no hot water storage cylinder so hot water need never run out no matter how many baths or showers you run. Every time you turn on the hot tap, cold water runs into the unit and is heated to the preset temperature, so hot water just keeps flowing directly from the heating unit to the tap, the shower, the bath - wherever you want it, whenever you want it.
Pay to heat only the water you use . Because the water is heated as and when you need it, you are not paying to heat and hold hot water in a storage cylinder when you are at work, or away for the weekend.
Simultaneous flow. Rinnai's Efficiency and Infinity cope with more than one demand for hot water at a time. You can choose a model that's perfect for your situation depending on how many people live in your home and are likely to need hot water at the same time. For example, the Rinnai Efficiency 24 delivers 24 litres of hot water per minute (at 25 degrees Celsius standard rise) - that's usually enough to run two showers simultaneously with some left over. The Rinnai Infinity 32 delivers 32 litres per minute (at 25 degrees celsius standard rise).

Digital controllers located inside your home allow you to set water temperatures in up to four different locations. Set water at a safe temperature for the bathroom, then set it hotter in the kitchen or laundry. There's no need to mix hot and cold water to achieve the right temperature and no more hot or cold blasts in the shower. If someone turns another tap on somewhere in the house, the controller ensures that water is still delivered to you at the desired temperature. More about our digital controllers...
Fast response. Rinnai's leading technology has resulted in a system that responds even more quickly to changes in demand or incoming water temperature.
In high volume situations such as motels, gyms, or sports clubs, or wherever a lot of hot water is required, two or more Rinnai Infinity systems can be joined together to deliver a consistent flow of hot water. More about our commercial models…
All weather protection. New Zealand's climate and coastal exposure can be severe on exterior appliances. Rinnai Efficiency and Infinity units are designed with seamless rounded corners and are given a unique paint finish to help prevent corrosion.
