Which Continuous Flow Product?

Your water heating requirements are best determined by considering the number of bathrooms and kitchens in your home, their location and by establishing just how much demand there will be for hot water.

Important factors to discuss with your retailer or gas fitter include:

  • The number of showers and size of shower heads in your home.
  • Where you live. Water temperature and pressure vary throughout the country
  • The layout of your house. This will affect decisions about where to site the unit.

Efficiency or Infinity?
Both Rinnai’s continuous flow products will provide endless hot water and save you money on your monthly heating bills. For a small premium Efficiency offers even higher energy efficiency through the inclusion of a secondary heat exchanger. This equates to 95% energy efficiency and even lower running costs. For homes or commercial applications using larger volumes of hot water the savings can be phenomenal (To see exactly how much you can save check out the Running Cost Calculator).

Internal or External? The inside story on Rinnai’s Continuous Flow systems
Rinnai's Infinty continuous flow hot water units work just as well when installed internally as externally.

Many homeowners choose to mount their Efficiency or Infinity externally on a wall or inside a recess box if camouflaging the unit is important. From here the unit can be readily serviced and doesn’t require flueing.

Additionally, Rinnai Infinity internal units can be placed inside a cupboard or ceiling cavity and are flued through the wall or roof.

As it is best to locate the unit no more than 20m from the outlet internal units can be located centrally in the house, ensuring one unit can supply hot water to most expansive houses, requiring less piping and making installation faster.

Internal units are also ideal for upper storey apartments or townhouses where access to unobstructed exterior walls can be difficult.

LPG or Natural Gas?
Most New Zealand homes have access to some sort of gas supply, whether piped to the house or delivered through 45 Kg LPG gas bottles. Rinnai’s Efficiency and Infinity are suitable for both LPG and Natural Gas options.

Rinnai Digital Controllers
Both the Rinnai Efficiency and Infinity systems are designed to perform at their optimum level when used with one or more digital controllers.

What size suits you best?
The single most important factor influencing your choice of water heating system is how many showers you have and how much water they use. Your Infinity should be sized to provide enough flow for all the houses in the house at once plus 2-5 litres extra for kitchen or laundry taps.

The other point to consider is the layout of your house – your Infinity should be no more than 20m from the tap and at best located as close as possible to your kitchen. Sometimes in large houses using smaller units at either end of the house is a better solution than one centrally located large unit.

Commercial Usage
Rinnai provide range of Heavy Duty Rinnai Infinity units for commercial situations requiring higher temperature hot water.

Or when there is demand for large continuous volumes of hot water a bank of units can be installed in a Rinnai Manifold system.

Alternatively Demand Duo is an excellent cost effective alternative to cumbersome boiler systems.
